The best companion for people pushing physical limits


Although people in Taiwan have heard of hydration bladders, very few probably know that a Taiwanese company named HydraKnight is the world’s leading manufacturer of these products, with a market share of 66 percent and an annual output of 1.6 million. What’s more, dehydration can also affect the digestion and metabolism of food, and can even lead to increased irritability and a decreased attention span, all of which can affect a person’s judgment and lead to increased risks during outdoor activities.

Compared with a traditional canteen, a hydration bladder has the advantages of being both lighter-weight and able to hold a greater volume of water. The design of a hydration bag is certainly not new, though, for as early as 5000 years ago, people began to use cow bladders or goat leather to make waterskins to fill with water. Although traditional waterskins ran the risk of being easily punctured, improvements in plastic-manufacturing technology have now greatly reduced this possibility from occurring. And since hydration bladders take up less space and are more convenient than traditional canteens, they have become the top choice of most outdoor enthusiasts for the carrying of water.
